Good Intentions

Yesterday's outing to the dog park wasn't such a good idea. The dogs had a wonderful time playing with the other animals. They ran until they could no longer run. Our attempts to have their own drinking bowl failed since all other small creatures used our bowls. The bucket at the park was far to tall for the little ones.

Lucy, fearless little creature that she is, jumped off the small pier into the water. She panicked, or I should say, I panicked since it was her first time and seemed to be struggling to swim. I jumped to rescue her, forgetting that I cannot swim. I was told she would swim, that it is instinctive to animals. I did not want to find out that Lucy might be an exception.

Later in the evening, Ginger, Bella and Lucy were limping. The bottom of their paws are shredded. First thing this morning the vet was contacted and the poor babies will all be going in for the first available appointment.

Lucy and Bella both slept with me. Ginger slept in the parents room and has to be carried. Not an easy task for a 150 lb Great Dane.

The house is unusually quiet. Certainly hope the vet has a magic cure so that these little (and BIG) ones can soon return to their happy, mischievous selves.
