Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

This is my Monday's child, with her very own Sunday's child.

Good Intentions

Yesterday's outing to the dog park wasn't such a good idea. The dogs had a wonderful time playing with the other animals. They ran until they could no longer run. Our attempts to have their own drinking bowl failed since all other small creatures used our bowls. The bucket at the park was far to tall for the little ones.

Lucy, fearless little creature that she is, jumped off the small pier into the water. She panicked, or I should say, I panicked since it was her first time and seemed to be struggling to swim. I jumped to rescue her, forgetting that I cannot swim. I was told she would swim, that it is instinctive to animals. I did not want to find out that Lucy might be an exception.

Later in the evening, Ginger, Bella and Lucy were limping. The bottom of their paws are shredded. First thing this morning the vet was contacted and the poor babies will all be going in for the first available appointment.

Lucy and Bella both slept with me. Ginger slept in the parents room and has to be carried. Not an easy task for a 150 lb Great Dane.

The house is unusually quiet. Certainly hope the vet has a magic cure so that these little (and BIG) ones can soon return to their happy, mischievous selves.

Arizona

I have been in Arizona since the beginning of the month. Quickly adjusted to the 100 plus degree temperatures. Now, 75 feels chilly. It will be interesting to see what happens when I return back East where the temperature has already dipped to 37 during the night.

This area feels like a different world from my usual surroundings. This town is very lovely, although it gives me an essence of surrealism. At times the feeling of twilight zone. It certainly makes it crystal clear that there are many different "Americas". This in many ways I see as being detrimental to the reality of what is our national reality. People living in these places cannot possibly realize that their privileged lives insulate them from the appalling state of older cities and the poverty and misery surrounding so many people.

Yes, it is true that life is much easier here. I cannot complain that I have had any negative experiences. I even ask myself why I choose to live amongst the "struggling". I could turn my back on "my reality" and choose an easy path. I could if I tried, but....so many buts......
